Ingressive for Good

Olayinka’s Inevitable Journey to Product Design

I have always loved art! Growing up, I would draw and paint all sorts. My parents encouraged my interests and it has led me to the point I am right now. I’m grateful for their support.

I started learning Graphic Design while in the university and I made some money from it. My career was looking good but I felt a sense of dissatisfaction. I wanted to do so much more than what I was doing. I spoke to my mentor about this and she encouraged me to learn Product Design.

I started looking for opportunities to learn Product Design online and I found out about I4G! I’m so happy I came across their post on social media.

At the time, applications for the Financial Skills For 10,000 Women Scholarship program was ongoing so I applied for it and I got selected. I learnt about investments, saving and budgeting. It was such a good course and I am forever grateful for it. I knew I wanted to be a part of the I4G community so I joined them and hoped they would announce a scholarship to learn Product Design soon.

When the I4GZuri scholarship program was announced I was worried about applying because I wasn’t sure I would be selected but my Dad encouraged me so I applied and prayed I would be selected.

I was so excited when I saw the email about getting selected for the scholarship. I gave my best to learning the course. It wasn’t an easy one. The task were intense and the project we worked on wasn’t a walk in the park but I was determined!

Asides the project we worked on, I designed a website and a mobile app on my own. It made me feel great that I could do something like that.

I’m so grateful to I4G for this opportunity because I could not have been able to pay for this course on my own. I can confidently say I have grown since I discovered I4G.

Thank you Ingressive For Good!
