Staying focused is one of the most challenging things to do especially with social media but not just that, different activities can come up to disrupt your day. While you may not be able to stop distractions from coming up, you can still stay productive no matter what.
In this post, we’ve shared 5 tips to help you increase your productivity and achieve your goals:
1. Create a to-do list
At the start of your day, write down a list of all the tasks you want to accomplish. After listing out the tasks, identify the most important tasks and arrange your list accordingly. These could be the tasks with the closest deadlines or the tasks with the highest value. You can make the best use of your time by focusing on the most important tasks first. Check the tasks off as you complete them so you focus on the others. By doing this, you’d be clear about what you need to do and it’d help you stay on course.
Be specific when writing them out, your to do list can look like this;
- Send a follow-up email to the hiring manager of ABC Company.
- Complete the second module for the I4G Design course.
- Print out XYZ documents from the cafe.
- Get foodstuff from the grocery store.
- Create and edit 2 videos for my Instagram account
2. Keep away the distractions
Use a timer to remind you of your deadlines. You should minimize distractions. You can do this by having a workstation or working outside your house if working from home would be a distraction, turn off notifications from any social media platform you don’t need at the time or just log off to help you have focus time. Setting work hours for yourself can also help. You can dedicate say 8am to 5pm to getting work done.
3. Keep your work environment organized
You’d be amazed how productive you’d be when your workstation is organized. Your environment has an impact on your mind. A disorganized workspace can make it more difficult to concentrate on getting work done. It also makes it easier for you to find items you’d need as you work so you don’t spend an hour looking for your phone charger.
4. Use productivity apps
You can get work done faster using tech productivity apps. These apps can help you to get more done with less time. For example you can use calendar apps, time management apps or other apps that can automate repetitive tasks. Some of such apps are notion, asana, calendly, todoist.
5. Take care of your mental health
The mistake we make sometimes is thinking productivity is only about doing a long list of tasks. An important part of being productive is prioritizing your mental health too. If you’re mentally down you’ll not be able to achieve a lot at work. So, make sure you’re getting enough rest, exercise and healthy food. Have a support system of friends or family that you can turn to when you feel overwhelmed.
