I’m Gideon Akporido. Currently, I work as a data analyst at a Pharmaceutical. My daily routine follows a familiar pattern: waking up, working, and studying. Yes, I’m still a student, pursuing distance learning alongside my professional commitments. Life has a way of keeping me busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
My journey to data analysis wasn’t a straight path. Before diving into the world of Python and SQL, I dabbled in crypto trading while teaching in a secondary school. The meager income barely sustained me, prompting me to explore new avenues for career growth.
Thanks to a friend, an alumni of Datacamp, introduced me to this opportunity to learn data with I4G and Datacamp. It was a game-changer. Suddenly, I had access to structured learning, beyond the sporadic tutorials on YouTube. The decoration of being certified was secondary; what truly drew me in was the promise of tangible skills that could reshape my career trajectory.
Motivated by a love for numbers and a thirst for personal advancement, I threw myself into the Datacamp scholarship combined with Python, SQL—I devoured every lesson, every project with gusto. It wasn’t just about acquiring knowledge; it was about mastering skills that would open doors to new opportunities.
And open doors it did. Armed with my Datacamp certification, I ventured into data analysis, landing a role at a major Pharmaceutical. The financial stability that had once felt above my reach was now within reach. The current 80% increase in my income wasn’t just numbers on a paycheck; it was freedom—the freedom to pursue education without worrying about finances, the freedom to invest in real estate and cryptocurrency, the freedom to shape my future on my terms.
But my journey didn’t end with personal success. It’s about paying it forward. Whether it’s mentoring colleagues or guiding my boss through new endeavors, I’m a firm believer in sharing knowledge and empowering others to reach their full potential.
